Forget drinking water upside down, holding your breath for 2 minutes, being frightened, meditation and all the others. This is finally the true hiccup cure, stopping hiccups in as little as 12 seconds every time.
HICCUPS: a quick, involuntary inhalation that follows a spasm of the diaphragm and is suddenly checked by closure of the glottis, producing a short, relatively sharp sound. (http://www.dictionary.com)
I tend to get the hiccups around 4 times a week. Sometimes they can go on for several minutes and it's a bit of a hassle. I've tried all the so called "cures" with little to no success. Even the cure which does work takes several minutes of effort. It was only by accident that I stumbled onto what I believe is finally THE cure for hiccups. To my knowledge this is unique and the fastest cure ever developed. During a bad case several weeks ago I started holding my breath, then out of boredom began walking around my living room. I decided to do a little stretching while holding my breath so placed my hands above my door frame and leaned forward, and what do you know within seconds the hiccups stopped. You should feel an arch to your back and your abdomen stretching. Continue to push your hands upwards and let the weight of your body send you through the door frame. Maintain this stretched position for 30-60 seconds while holding a big breath. I take my large breath then perform the stretch and hold. I have gotten my cure down to about 12 seconds now. I've included an image in this post of the cure in action. That's all! Happy curing :)

If you are getting hiccups that frequently, you MIGHT want to get checked out by your doctor. In all seriousness, frequent or prolonged episodes of hiccups can be a sign of a more serious GI problem...
You episodes sound frequent, so I thought I'd just let you know!

fucking idiot.
easiest way to stop hiccups is have a long slow inhale and exhale through the mouth. stops it dead in about 3 seconds.
enough bullshit about hanging from a door frame holding your breath while shagging your mother.

yeah vinegar works better than anything else. try it once and you will be amazed. you can actually feel the hiccups going away.
if the thought of vinegar disgusts you: take a tsp of sugar and pour vinegar over it. works just as well and doesn't taste as bad.
cheers,

As sick as it sounds, they say sticking a finger up your butt helps stop the hiccups (I haven't tried this, nor do I want to - it was featured on digg from an article in a Science publication).
Also sugar on the tongue (never works).
Drinking water (never works).
And getting scared (works but seriously difficult to do).
Also they say eating something helps (and it does).

If you don't have a door from, you can arc your back yourself. If you put your hands behind your back and then grab your opposite elbows pulling forward. It will allow you the same freedom. I've been using this trick myself for a few years now. This does not work on violent hiccups though. Or hiccups caused by emotional distress (those will go away for a minute, then return).

Place 1 teaspoon of sugar, (heaping) into your mouth and slowly let it dissolve. Hiccups gone! It really is that easy.
(Note, don't try this if you have been drinking alcohol, it may have bad results)

Hiccups are an "arrhythmia" of the diaphragm. The deep breath cure is best. Your streching achieved close the same thing -- motor-neuro reset of your diaphragm. If you are getting hiccups 4 times a week, that is a lot! Seek medical advice.
